Charlotte, NC – On Sunday, Democrats went crazy about a new story from The New York Times that suggests President Trump paid around $750 in taxes over the past few years. It questioned his tax payments over the past few years and tried to indicate that he was avoiding paying taxes.
Democrats seized the opportunity as another way to attack President Trump. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was one of the more vocal ones to complain. She said she paid thousands, while Trump paid only $750.
In 2016 & ’17, I paid thousands of dollars a year in taxes *as a bartender.*Trump paid $750.He contributed less to funding our communities than waitresses & undocumented immigrants.Donald Trump has never cared for our country more than he cares for himself. A walking scam. https://t.co/VZChbp8htu
AOC also attacked some of the other suggestions by The NY Times regarding statements about her hair appointments and the cost of them. She said she was blasted for spending $250 on hair appointments, suggesting a double standard from Republicans for not attacking Trump for spending $70,000 on his hair.
Last year Republicans blasted a firehose of hatred + vitriol my way because I treated myself to a $250 cut & lowlights on my birthday.Where’s the criticism of their idol spending $70k on hairstyling?Oh, it’s nowhere because they’re spineless, misogynistic hypocrites? Got it. https://t.co/xCQGwW7EK5
Democrats and the mainstream media will continue to drive a narrative over this, but there’s really nothing to see here. I think it’s time to take a deeper look at how this story is a non-story altogether.
First of all, we all know that President Trump is heavily involved in real estate. You can look at a list of the real estate assets of the Trump organization in a recent filing that was made. Real estate investors regularly show losses on their business properties, so that is an entire non-starter of a story.
The suggestion that Trump avoided taxes is absolutely absurd, however. The Trump organization is still responsible for millions of dollars in tax liability. This ranges from property tax to also payroll tax.
For example, public records show that just for the property of Trump Tower in New York City, Trump was hit with a tax bill of over $11.498 million. In Chicago, he was hit with $1.491 million. This is only two of his properties, out of the dozens owned.
The other side of taxes must be the thought about how much Trump is responsible for regarding payroll taxes. While an employee pays payroll tax through withholding by their employers. The employer is also responsible for paying additional taxes on top of this.
Trump employs thousands of employees across the country, with thousands of dollars in tax liability per employee. In 2015, CNN reported that Trump employed 22,450 employees. Payscale reports that the average salary of Trump organization employees is $75,000 across the entire organization.
If you only look at federal payroll taxes, this creates a federal tax liability for Trump of $129,749,775 based on 22,450 employees. This is a lot more in taxes paid by the President than what the Democrats would have you to believe.
The President’s actions on his taxes are no different than countless business owners across the country. Small and large business owners all have property that is placed in the ownership of an organization, which may lead to them having little personal tax liability based on the performance of those properties. You have to look at the full picture.
The NY Times and Democrats are after anything to attack Trump. Perhaps this is their way to try bullying him into releasing his tax records, but there is no reason to do this. There is enough information available online to tell you the truth.
President Trump and the Trump Organization have paid millions of dollars in taxes to federal, state, and local governments each year. This story from The NY Times is a complete hack job and is not even a story at all. Don’t fall for this lie from the Democrats.

On Saturday, President Trump announced the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to fill the seat vacated by the death of Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Trump had said before that he was holding Barrett for this seat, so the nomination comes as no surprise to those who are familiar with the circumstance.
